Mother's Day at Our Home

This past Sunday, May 11, 2008, was the Neuharth Mother's Day gathering at our home in Sun Lakes/Banning in "the Pass" between San Bernardino and Palm Springs, California.

From the pictures above you can see most of those who were there ... (somehow Grandpa/Dad was hiding behind his own camera, so we missed capturing him in these pictures). Those who attended were Grandma/Mom & Grandpa/Dad plus Gary's family with Gary, Betty (Elizabeth), Gary-Adam and Betty's mom Rose, 95 (recently moved to Loma Linda); Dennis' family with Dennis, Claire (visiting from Missouri), Daniele & Dave; Nan's family with Don, Nancy, Steph & Kate; and of course, we can't forget moms' best friend's, our four-legged family members Missy & Wolfee.

The day was beautiful - perfect weather till the very end when a sudden blast of wind blew our umbrella over and shattered our glass patio table -- thank you, everyone, for helping us clean up the mess!

All in all, it was a great to get together ... thanks to everyone for bringing their favorite entrees from homemade quiche and carrot salad (thanks, Daniele), sweet & sour and savory Trader Joe meatless meatballs (thanks, Betty), to a classic green salad with Claire's favorite dressing and Nan's homemade bread buns. Den & Claire & Nan & Don thought up the delicate lace cake design and I might add we are very grateful to Den & Claire for their help, in so many way ... and one more thing, who can forget the crazy bubbles floating through the air and the large Mother's Day balloon (that is in Grandpa/Dad's hands now) that played "You are my Sunshine" everytime it was punched). We missed those who of you who weren't able to come (Michele & Tiffany, Ray & Brenna, Rosie, Sunny & Steve), and hope you can come next time!

Our next special family date is Grandpa's/Dad's 90th birthday, June 7. Grandpa invited us all to celebrate with him, all day Sunday, June 8, on a boat tour of San Diego bay. - Nan (Neuharth) Troyer
