FUN on the FOURTH

NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE THE FUN WE HAVE HERE IN SUN LAKES ... But yesterday, July 4, 2008, was a great day in the neighborhood! The annual Independence Day parade was the highlight and I had the privilege to ride in Arlene's Breakfast Club float. The float was actually Joyce's yellow golf cart decorated by the some of ladies who are a part of Arlene's Breakfast Club. This great group of ladies meet on the second Thursday of each month for breakfast. As we thought of a theme for this year's parade, Arlene felt we should encourage other Sun Lakers to support our Sun Lakes Restaurant. Cheryl and I rode inside holding tightly unto two stuffed Foster Farm chickens while Linda stood courageously in the back in her Uncle Sam costume pointing out the virtue of eating regularly so close to home. The posters were placed strategically around three sides of the float showing the original Uncle Sam with a new message, "I WANT YOU at the Sun Lakes Restaurant Once a Month."
.
To our surprise and glee, our float won second place in a field of many beautiful entries. Finally after the judging and awards, Cheryl put the pedal to the metal and we took off following a long line of decorated golf carts and classic cars on their ceremonial trip around the Sun Lakes community where miles of enthusiastic residents waited to cheer us on. It was a good day in Sun Lakes and I am so thankful to live in America. God bless her!
