MOUNTAIN TOP ADVENTURE

(To enlarge pictures above, double click on them.)
Monday, we had the opportunity to host our friends Vickie and Jim Phelps, old chaplain friends, on the Palm Springs Cable Car to the top of Mount San Jacinto. The revolving cable car took us 8,500 feet from sea level up the rocky mountainside in Palm Springs (107F) to the top where we had lunch out on the sunny veranda.
.
After lunch we strolled down the winding cement walkway into a beautiful mountain meadow called Long Valley(70F). The aroma of pine trees in the cool air was wonderful and the crunchy sounds of the earth under our feet reminded me of my many happy summers of years gone by.
.
We did a lot of laughing and, of course as you can tell, picture taking. Since July is Military Appreciation Month, the guys presented their military I.D. cards and rode up the mountain free.
.
Jim and Vickie, now living in San Antonio, Texas, came out to California to celebrate Jim's brother Roy's 60th birthday but we were blessed to have them stay with us here in Sun Lakes and we are grateful to renew our friendship!
